After checking out of the Hyatt Regency Boston I hired a cab to take me to Boston Logan International where I checked in for my return flight home. I arrived at the airport at 2:50pm on a Sunday and check-in and security together took about 20 minutes. The airport was certainly busier than my late night arrival, but Boston’s Main Terminal A is a fairly efficient operation and having TSA PreCheck helped as well.

Security
After clearing security you are emptied directly in front of the stairs heading up to the Delta Sky Club in the Main Terminal A. Since my flight was leaving from that terminal this would be the club to visit. There is also a Satellite Terminal A were the other Boston Sky Club is located. At the Main Terminal there are stairs and an elevator that go up one floor to the lounge once you pass through security. After taking the stairs and presenting my Sky Club membership card I was admitted into the lounge.
I currently have an Executive Membership for the Delta Sky Club. I received this last year by redeeming 160,000 SkyBonus points from Delta’s business program. It was one of the few redemptions of any value the program still offered. Recently Delta removed this redemption option from the program.

The lounge layout is a large elongated space broken up by a core area in the center. A connecting hallway in the back allows for a circular flow around the entire inner core throughout the lounge. The inner core is mostly likely a support space for the club itself and it also includes the bar facilities.
Once you enter the club, going left brings you into the primary space including the main seating area, dinning, food presentation, and the bar. There are also windows all along this area with views into Terminal A.

From the front reception desk, going right puts you down a narrow hall and into a quiet room. There is also a large sign on the right indicating that future improvements are coming to the Boston Sky Club. At the very back of both spaces is a small cooridor that leads to the lounge bathrooms. Neither Boston Sky Clubs have showers.

The décor and art on display in the Boston Sky Club was modern, tasteful and complementary to the architecture of the lounge. This Sky Club is decidedly contemporary with other updated lounges in the system.

Even though the club had a decent attendance it never felt that busy, and I was able to get pictures of Delta’s most recent food offerings. Delta has received a lot of criticism of the changes to their frequent flyer program over the last few years. The criticism has not extended to their domestic Sky Club lounges. Overall there is has been a visible improvement at the U.S. clubs over the past few years, and most notably is the food. The food offerings are better, more varied, and gone are the days of just offereing crackers and cheese as a snack to hold you over for the next flight. While not on pair with the international lounges, Delta has the best food domestically vs their rivals United, American, and Alaska.

In Summary:
The Sky Club in the Main Terminal at Boston Logan is great US domestic lounge. The space is stylish, the food is good and the club is large enough that it doesn’t feel crowded when there is higher occupancy. The staff that works the club is proud of their facility and it was evident in their professional attitude. If Boston is your home base this airport lounge would be a real asset on your travels in and out of the area.
