Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor

opener

Our flight landed at Boston Logan at 11:15pm. I chose the first evening at the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor for a few reasons. 1) With a late arrival it wouldn’t lake long to check into the hotel and get some sleep. 2)  It was less expensive that the Hyatt Regency Boston, so there was a cost benefit. 3) In the morning I could transfer to the Hyatt Regency for the remainder of my stay. I could review 2 locations and get 2 stays toward my diamond status with Hyatt. I ended up booking a standard “Aviation King” room at $179.00 per night before taxes.

I called the hotel and requested a shuttle for pickup which took about 20 minutes. It seemed like a long wait for the hotel being so close. After the shuttle arrived I was delivered to the hotel front lobby and check-in. The associate acknowledged my diamond status and quickly processed my check-in, also adding that the hotel bar would be open for food or drinks for another 10 minutes if desired. She also stated I had been upgraded to a “Harbor View King.” I thanked her for everything and took my key card and continued too my room.

On entering the room there is short hallway with a door to the bathroom on your left and to the closet on your right. The hallway ends into the room itself, which is cozy in size. The website doesn’t list a square footage but it can’t be much over 300sqft. Still, the room looked good and views of Boston were wonderful. The room included the king bed, TV console, 2 chairs and a couple small tables. For myself it was plenty of space for my 1 night stay.

The following morning, I awoke to full overcast views of the city of Boston on the water. It looked beautiful. Breakfast is included as a Hyatt Diamond benefit and is offered in the hotel restaurant, the Harborside Grill. I proceeded downstairs to fuel up for the remainder of the day.

I ordered off the menu, eggs with toast. Overall the breakfast and the choices were good. Even better were the views out the restaurant. After breakfast I prepared to checkout as I was going over to the Hyatt Regency Boston to drop off bags and proceed to my meeting. Even though it was overcast the temperatures were mild and I decided to take the water taxi across the harbor and then cab it to the Regency.

When you check out from the Hotel the Hyatt will sell you a fairy ticket ahead of boarding. $12.00 – a real deal. After my journey across the harbor I picked up a cab and in a few minutes I was at the next Hyatt. You could probably walk that distance (after the water taxi), and I might have done that if I hadn’t had a meeting to attend.

In Summary:

You would be hard pressed to find a better airport hotel than the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor. The standard room is a little small but the Harbor side views are terrific. The associates at the hotel were all professional and friendly.  The restaurant breakfast was good, and with the water taxi you can cross the harbor and be in downtown Boston in a matter of 20 minutes. I recommend this hotel for anyone who has business in Boston and needs be near the airport. I could have stayed another day and just soaked up the wonderful views.
